Louisiana Quarter Marathon was Awesome!
Last week was so great. I went out to Louisiana a day early due to the chance of a huge snow storm in Minnesota. It was great to be there early with my friend Carolyn Guhman. I enjoyed going to the gym and doing a class with Carolyn as a guest - that was a HUGE gym. We enjoyed talking about our sports, running for me and stair climbing for Carolyn. We ate healthy as we know that is what power's our sport. We talked for hours about our goals and plans for the next year. It was simply wonderful to have this time together. Oh yeah - and we ran a race! The Louisiana Quarter Marathon which was my C goal race and the first race I have done in a long time.
The Louisiana Quarter Marathon was well organized and so much fun. I was expecting a pretty flat course. I surprised to find out that it was rolling hills. For me it was quite warm reaching 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Luckily I have been running a lot of treadmill miles in the house that is set for 70 degrees. I felt really good most of the race and was super happy with my results. Not as fast as I want to be yet; but, I am going in the right direction. This is the highest I have ever placed in a large race, 4th out of 33 in my division which is age & gender. Top 30% overall which is also the highest I have ever placed.
I have big goals - to quality for Boston. I am a long ways a way from seeing that goal; but, I believe if I keep putting in that work that day will come. Snapped this picture to remind me of the journey I am on and to keep me going at it. You too can realize your dreams - one action at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time, etc.... In the long run it will be worth it because you will realize the dreams in reality!
